Regardless of the specific job title and the restaurant location where team members work, the people who work at Nando’s are part of our extended family; we refer to our important and valued Nando’s family members as Nandocas…the most special breed of people on the planet!

There are several different and exciting employment positions within the Nando’s family. Each role is important and unique – and essential in providing the high quality food and experiences we give to all our customers.

Depending on each restaurant location and size, some of the tasks listed in these job descriptions may be shared amongst the Nandocas. All hiring and promotions occur at restaurant level. 


Cashier

Our cashiers are vitally important to the business and are a special ingredient to our company’s success! They create the first impression people have when they enter our home. They welcome customers, process orders and also help ensure the ‘front of our house’ is clean.

Cashiers are characterized as having a positive, ‘can do’ attitude. They love multi-tasking and being out on the front line every day. Cashiers thrive working with people in a fast-paced and fun team environment.


Prep Cook

Like all Nandocas, Prep Cooks love to whistle while they work. Our Prep Cooks take pride in the responsibility they have for setting up and maintaining the ‘back of house’ as well as preparing the cooked food and fresh salads.

People in the Prep Cook role enjoy multi-tasking – skills that are developed and championed in a fast-paced (and did we say fun?) environment. These team members are positive individuals who have been integral to both the success we have built in our business and the unique atmosphere present in every Nando's restaurant. It’s their contributions from ‘behind the scenes’ that have people raving about both the great food and fantastic vibes in our restaurants!


Back Griller / Front Griller

Our Grillers take great pride in flame-grilling the chicken that has helped us become world-famous! Grillers enjoy the dynamic, fast-paced environment at Nando’s as it allows them to showcase their organizational and team player abilities! 

Grillers at Nando’s tend to be detail-oriented – with a big fun factor! They love to ‘heat things up’ for our customers, only allowing the highest caliber food out of the kitchen. Grillers enjoy lots of variety in their ‘work’ and most often share some responsibilities with Prep Cooks.


Assistant Manager/Manager

All Nandocas who perform management functions at Nando’s are truly unique, well-rounded people (and not just from eating too much chicken)! These Nandocas lead by example as far as day-to-day operations go, and they always want to learn and grow their skills. Nandocas in management roles have great communication skills – a valuable asset when leading their fellow Nandocas.

Managers, Assistant Managers and Patraos all share management functions and roles/ responsibilities may differ with restaurant location and size. These work tasks include (but are not exclusive to): scheduling, inventory control/ordering, personnel (such as recruiting and – less fun – terminating), local restaurant marketing, performance appraisals, staff meetings, cash control and finance.

It's important that anyone coming into a management level job is experienced in a hospitality and/or retail environment; restaurant experience is not necessarily required for Assistant Management applicants who are experienced in other team leadership roles. Most importantly, these family members must truly ‘live’ the 5 Nando’s Values: pride, passion, courage, integrity and family.
