The term of the license agreement is for five years with an option to renew for two additional five-year terms or the possession of the premises if the lease is shorter than 15 years.
Franchisees can sell their locations if they are in good standing with the Franchisor within the terms of the Agreement. Nando's does have the right of first refusal to purchase the restaurant or to ensure a purchaser meets the standard qualifications of a new applicant and satisfactorily completes the training program.
Nando's philosophy is to make each store as successful as possible and new units will be opened only in markets which will not impact an existing restaurant. Each outlet will have a clearly defined protected trading area in which to grow their business.
